Preparing for your dog vacation: What you should consider

Before you go on vacation with your dog, you should make a few preparations to avoid unpleasant surprises:

  1. Check entry requirements: Find out about the country-specific regulations (vaccinations, listed dogs, muzzle requirement).
  2. Check vaccination certificate: Check that your dog's vaccinations are up to date and have them updated if necessary.
  3. Inform accommodation: Clarify in advance whether your dog is welcome in the accommodation and whether there are any special rules.
  4. Find a vet in your holiday destination: Find a vet near your accommodation in case of an emergency.
  5. Dog liability insurance: Write down your dog liability insurance number and have it handy.
  6. Dog tag & address tag: In addition to the usual dog tag, a small tag with the address of your accommodation on your collar or harness is useful.
  7. Check GPS tracker: Do you use a GPS tracker for your dog? Find out whether this also works in the target country.
  8. Equipment for the car: Think about the necessary equipment for the trip, such as a blanket, seat belt or back seat protector.
